Hello,
I am Annie Director of the Angel Mission Free Store in Calumet Michigan.
The Angel Mission is an out reach of The Copper Country Christian Fellowship.
The Angel Mission has been open for 3 years. We are nonprofit and run our shop from a grant and donations from Churches and the community. We give away FREE of charge clothing, shoes, toys, household items and food to who ever needs them with NO questions asked and NO income requirements. Everyone is treated with the same love and respect, it doesn't matter if they are a homeless man shopping at the shop or someone bringing in donations. We also have HUGE coat giveaways in the fall and backpack giveaways right before school starts. And last Christmas with help from the community and some churches we were able to give 42 children NEW gifts for Christmas. The Copper Country Christian Fellowship also has Community dinners (soup, pizza, pastys) twice a month. They are Free and everyone is welcome to come. We also have adult and children's bible study. We are a very small community but our Dream was to help our neighbors and through the help of God and everyone that has pitched in we are able to help many people. We would LOVE to see a Free store in every town! Neighbor helping Neighbor with Christian love and caring.
your friend,
annie

Why I'm On Board
Hi Everyone
Here's my thought. The more I get involved as a participant in mission and ministry in Northern Michigan, simply, the better I feel. I can't tell you how it blessed me, and the church I serve, First Presbyterian in Escanaba, when we got involved in two earth day events through Earth Keepers. I can't tell you (ditto) when we got involved with the Angel Mission Free Store in Calumet. I can't tell you (ditto) the joy it was to discover the Holy Transfiguration Skete in Eagle Harbor and what the brothers do there. Etc!
There are things going on!
So, why is it difficult to find out what's going on? Whatever reason that is, now we have a place where we can post brief articles and essays, and respond to them (comments).
I'm on board and I'm hoping that a lot of people with a heart to be the body of Christ at work in the Northern Michigan world will regularly drop by and we can be in touch.
Peace,
Scott

inaugural post
We're exploring the use of this blog to bring together these:
So let's let it rip. Sign in and post, comment. You'll bless and be blessed. Mission and ministry in Northern Michigan will advance.
Peace
- people who do mission and ministry in Northern Michigan
- what they want to work on, or are working on, or should work on
- invitations, opportunities and means to do this better singly or jointly.
What is "Northern Michigan?" Let's say all of the U.P. and about the upper third of the L.P. That happens to be the bounds of the Presbytery of Mackinac, a middle governing body of the Presbyterian Church (USA). But this is not primarily a presbyterian blog or even necessarily a Christian one (though we'd be surprised if most people didn't say most of it is coming from or going to the Christian perspective), it is a blog for those doing mission and ministry in Northern Michigan.
Like, what do you mean by mission and/or ministry? Serving. Serving the poor, anyone in need. Caring for the earth. Supporting camps and conference centers. Running good worship services. Running good church schools for young and old.So let's let it rip. Sign in and post, comment. You'll bless and be blessed. Mission and ministry in Northern Michigan will advance.
Peace
