inaugural post

We're exploring the use of this blog to bring together these:
  • people who do mission and ministry in Northern Michigan
  • what they want to work on, or are working on, or should work on
  • invitations, opportunities and means to do this better singly or jointly.

What is "Northern Michigan?" Let's say all of the U.P. and about the upper third of the L.P. That happens to be the bounds of the Presbytery of Mackinac, a middle governing body of the Presbyterian Church (USA). But this is not primarily a presbyterian blog or even necessarily a Christian one (though we'd be surprised if most people didn't say most of it is coming from or going to the Christian perspective), it is a blog for those doing mission and ministry in Northern Michigan.

Like, what do you mean by mission and/or ministry? Serving. Serving the poor, anyone in need. Caring for the earth. Supporting camps and conference centers. Running good worship services. Running good church schools for young and old.

So let's let it rip. Sign in and post, comment. You'll bless and be blessed. Mission and ministry in Northern Michigan will advance.

Peace

As one who has never "blogged" this should be a learning experience - accompanied by a learning curve. I think I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Steve
Thanks for dropping by.
It's kind of you, as of today the blog certainly is in its very infancy. We'll all be learning with you. Peace

I tried to leave a comment several days ago regarding Presbytery worship, but on a later visit found no record of my "blog." Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Larry

Thanks so much for trying. I think I know what it was. Could you give me a call at the Presbyterian Church in Escanaba ... we'll get it done.
Thanks

Wanting to know what kind of follow-up there has been since our April presbytery meeting. Have congregations picked up on new ministries to serve the "least" in our communities? Are there congregations considering applying for the "Ministry Grants" that will be available in our presbytery? Have churches challenged members to consider being "generous" with their government rebate - giving to worthwhile efforts to serve those in need? How can we help churches be accountable for their kingdom service in this troubled world? Do we have any feedback, Scott?
